George Fox Serve Day!

On Wednesday, September 14th, George Fox students and staff descended on Head Start's Newberg Center for the colleges' annual Serve Day. Among the projects this amazing group of volunteers completed were painting of the bus barn, garden shed, and back porch railing as well as clearing of a HUGE amount of yard debris! Their efforts helped our center to shine for the return of children and families for the 2016-2017 school year! Thank you George Fox for your commitment to our community!

Local College Students Help Out at Head Start Centers

August and September brought a lot of helping hands to our Head Start of Yamhill County facilities! August 22-24, Linfield First CLAS students helped to stain fences, install child seats on buses, border pathways, and clear brush. Following quickly on the heals of that amazing amount of help was a group of 11 students and staff from George Fox University's Serve Day volunteering with painting, limb removal, and light bulb replacement at our Newberg Center.

Jose-Luis Orozco Visits Head Start of Yamhill County

Seed to Supper Class a Success!

The first Seed to Supper class to be offered in Yamhill County was a great success! A collaboration between Oregon Food Bank, Yamhill Community Action Partnership, Oregon State University's Yamhill County Master Gardeners, and Head Start of Yamhill County, the class finished with twelve participants receiving their Certificate of Completion!

Mr. Michael Eichman, founder and past Executive Director of Head Start of Yamhill County, passed away on November 22nd, 2014. (Obituary as published by the Statesman Journal.) He provided the foundation for our organization through 17 years of leadership during which time four centers for developmentally-appropriate learning for children and families were built in Yamhill County.

Since 1985 HSYC has implemented effective program governance, shared decision making, parent involvement, and high quality services for children and families.
